
The modern air conditioning concept was first conceived and shown to the world in 1902. It was the W.H. Carrier company in New York whose name still associated with the industry today. The invention was able to control temperature and humidity by blowing air through cold coils, which were kept immersed in cold water. The cold water was able to cool the air and also lower the humidity.
There are two separate segments of air-conditioning applications, which are known as comfort applications and process applications. Comfort applications include room conditioning to control the temperature of indoor air. Included in this are transportation vehicles such as automobiles, ships, air craft, and space ships. Process applications relate to laboratories, hospitals, factories and so on.
