Why Prenatal Help Is Important
In order to ensure good health for both you and your baby it is important to be under the care of a health care provider who specializes in prenatal care. You may have pre-existing medical conditions that could worsen during the course of your pregnancy or pose serious threat to your baby. Additionally, there are certain foods, beverages, substances and activities that you must avoid while pregnant aside from necessary prenatal vitamins to take on a daily basis. Your health care provider will also begin taking regular blood and urine tests as a good indicator of how you and your baby are doing. These are usually done during your routine office visits. If you so choose, you may also undergo genetic testing if you feel you have a genetic condition in either your or your partner's family history. Although this process can be anxiety-ridden and scary, it is in your best interest and your baby's well being to be as prepared as possible. As your pregnancy continues, you will have an ultrasound test which will give you the opportunity to hear your baby's heartbeat and for your health care provider to take a peek at the development of the fetus. Often times you will leave the ultrasound appointment with a snapshot of your little baby to share with your family and friends. For many expecting moms, seeing an ultrasound of their little baby really hits the message home there is life growing inside their bodies.
